LBS - > LBS uses and
applications?
|
| The GPS satellites have been deployed for many years.
But the use of these satellites to locate a mobile phone has given
rise to many LBS applications. Some of the LBS applications pointed
out in the 5th Annual Asia Pacific conference held in
Bangkok this year on ‘Mobile Location Services’ are listed in
Table 1 below.
The
list below shows a difference between lbs applications used in Asia
and the western countries. In Asia applications such as Child
tracking, Spouse tracking and family tracking are very popular,
where as in western countries the awareness of privacy issues are
stronger and therefore, the enterprise LBS applications like vehicle
tracking, asset management are more widely used.
However
this list is growing daily and this growth is giving rise to many
privacy issues due to the constant gathering of location information
of individuals and storing them in database. |
